W. Britain Wrath of the Northmen On the 8th of June 793, Viking long ships appeared of the Northeast coast of England in Northumberland to raid the abbey on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. In a short period of time, the abbey and surrounding village was destroyed with many of the monks falling victim to the "wolves from the sea." The English Book of Prayer included a phrase." From the fury of the Northmen deliver us, Lord." We carry this range and many more from W. Britain. Come and see Zulu War, Jack Tars & leathernecks, Napoleonic War, World War 1, World War 2, American Civil War, U.S. Marines & many Ceremonial Figures.
Wbritain Wrath of the NorthmenOn January 11, 1879, British forces under the Command of Lord Chelmsford invaded Zululand. The invasion force was made up of three columns, with Chelmsfords centre column invading Zululand at one of the principle crossing points on the Mzinyathi (Buffalo) River – an outpost called Rorke’s Drift. After the initial invasion Rorke’s Drift settled into life as a supply depot with a small hospital.
The American Civil War, or the War between the States, was fought between 1861 and 1865. It was perhaps one of the most defining and tragic chapters in American history. It is also known as one of the 'modern wars' with a grim preview of what was to come in future conflicts.
The Napoleonic Wars raged from 1803 to 1815 with almost every European nation involved at one point. Huge armies clashed in battle with the balance of power shifting back and forth. The tides turned against Imperial France and in 1814 the defeated Emperor Napoleon was sent into exile.
